DSS To launch Next Generation Automatic Door System

DSS Automatic Doors and its technology partners have developed an automatic sliding door system with the intelligence to optimise the opening cycle, subsequently reducing its own energy use and the energy used to heat or cool the area around the entrance of a building.

The new FDS-A140 env has been designed to meet the needs of the market as well as protect the planet, thanks to an innovative energy saving device it can determine when to open and how long to remain open with out the need to complete a conventional generic cycle which is typically 10-12 seconds.

The FDS-A140 env has all the qualites of a conventional automatic door system and so much more, capable of driving 180kg door panels in single motor configuration or 250kg as a dual motor within a 100wat absorbed power rating and a 100% duty cycle. This capability now allows for standard non-thermally broken single glazed door panels to be replaced with the heavy thermally broken low E double glazed door panels that offer far greater thermal values. Other system benefits include monitored safety systems, electro mechanical locking, UPS to allow operation in the event of mains failure and now Ethernet ready for PC remote management as standard.

A conventional automatic door system can operate up to 327 times an hour completing a pre-determined opening and closing cycle. In the UK a typical bi-parting door system measures 4sq metres when fully open, if it was to remain open on a cold winters day whilst persons were passing by the entrance, neither entering or leaving the building, the building occupier will most likely be attempting to heat a surrounding area of 8 cubic metres, now with the introduction of the FDS-A140 env you can reduce the number of times the door opens unnecessarily and minimise your carbon emissions and energy costs.

By preventing the age old industry problem of false activation by cross traffic and traffic not entering or leaving the building the door system reduces the number of false opening cycles, allowing the temperature within the building to be managed with out unnecessary air dispersion resulting in sudden changes in room temperature near the entrance.

To measure both Carbon emissions and energy savings DSS use Thermo-tool software which can also demonstrate the time required to pay back the original capital cost for the product the FDS-A140 env also has a factory fitted Ethernet interface which allows the system to be remotely managed by PC offering the user both performance and diagnostics information regarding its use and any possible pre-configured alarm conditions that may be present.

DSS believe we now have a cost effective next generation solution that offers everyone using the FDS-A140 env the knowledge they are achieving the maximum available with the use of automatic doors to allow not only unimpeded access for users, but now assisting with the measured reduction of carbon emissions, have no doubt the FDS-A140 env will change the markets expectation of what a door systems default capabilities should be
